Light Body Activation

Human evolution is not finished. Our bodies are going through a process of development that is affecting every aspect of our lives. This development is occurring at a level of our physiology that most of us do not notice or might not even believe is present: our vibrational light body.

The light body is an expanding energy matrix that exists within and beyond the space of the physical form. It is an aspect of the body that has particular functions and components, just like the circulatory system or the digestive system. And right now it is maturing at an exponential rate in many people. And if you are interested enough to listen to this, you are probably one of them.

The evolving light body has a powerful impact on our physical, emotional, mental and so-called ‘spiritual’ experience, whether or not we are aware of it. In fact, many physical and mental health challenges that we experience are exacerbated or even caused by unbalanced energy surging through this immature system. The good news is that we can learn to regulate this part of ourselves with just a little bit of practice. This opens up a whole new dimension of experience in daily life.

Remember when you first learned to read? Or ride a bike? Or drive a car? Do you remember the exhilaration of suddenly being able to journey into new worlds, the freedom and joy of exploration and expansion? Connecting to the power of the light body is like that. In this podcast we will learn unique, simple skills that you can use immediately to begin to recognize and adjust this part of your physiology. We will pick up the keys, put them in the ignition and practice piloting the amazing, evolving vehicle that is your light body.

Conscious light body activity is part of my daily life and it provides regenerating inspiration and vitality to engage in each moment that unfolds in front of me. If my back hurts or I’m anxious or I’m not getting along with someone or I feel stuck on a project or I don’t know which direction to take next…. a little light body work immediately shifts things for the better. I am excited to share it with those who are craving to activate their life in this way.

Identifying the light body as an evolving part of the human physiology is a quantum step in understanding. And detailing specific, replicable and safe processes to connect to and operate it is a key to vibrant living on this plane. In this podcast we will not only explore the light body intellectually, we will actually learn biomechanical procedures so that you can directly interface with this part of your growing self. Learning to sensitize and regulate the light body is vital to maintaining balance and strength in daily life, and is one of the most effective ways to generate personal and planetary health. And now that so many of us are spending more time at home and less time running around doing external activities, we have a wonderful opportunity to delve into this material; it’s as if the whole world is reoriented to journey into new dimensions of possibility.


Episode I: Proprioceptive Exercise

In this episode, you will begin to learn a unique form of meditative activity called proprioceptive exercise. This involves a specific type of movement and focus that activates the proprioceptive system. This is a part of your nervous system that maintains alignment through the activity of specialized nerve fibers in the tendons and muscles. It is the physiological mechanism behind your Inner Guidance  System.

This type of ‘exercise’ expands perception, opening the door to a visceral, sensory experience of your self so that you can actually FEEL the sensations of your body and energy system. Once you can feel your energy, you can learn to calibrate it consciously. This gives you more power to direct the ongoing creation that is your life, rather than a haphazard mishmash of outside influences dominating your daily experience. This is fulfilling, inspiring and fun!

Proprioceptive exercise is quite slow and quiet; the processes are more internal than external. It can be done by anyone regardless of age or condition. If you are interested in improving your strength, flexibility, energy, emotional balance, and mental clarity, then this is for you! One of the best things about it is that you can use it to enhance other self-development practices such as yoga, meditation, traditional exercise, music or art. You don’t have to add it to your to-do list, because you can naturally incorporate its principles into almost anything you do.


In this podcast we will always actually DO some light body activation activities rather than just talking about them. Today, that involves learning the basics of proprioceptive exercise. It’s very easy and I’m sure you will be able to enjoy this.

FInd a quiet area to sit on a folded blanket, cushions or a futon. If you are not comfortable on the floor, sitting in a chair is fine. You can even be lying in bed, although you may end up falling asleep. If you aren’t sitting on the floor, you will need to alter some of the positions in order for them to work for you. The position itself doesn’t matter, just move slowly and follow the directions from wherever you are. By the way, you may want to also grab a notebook and pen to take some notes during the podcast - that can be really helpful in learning new information. How about you set yourself up now while I give a little preview about what we will be doing.

Here are a few main points to keep in mind. And by the way, don’t worry about remembering them all, I will repeat them several times as we move through the exercises:

  1. Breathe in and out while encouraging the stream of air to move along the back of your nasal passages. Also, breathe as quietly as possible. This type of breathing stimulates the part of your nervous system that governs the relaxation response (the opposite of the fight/flight response).

  2. We will be doing some movements in SLOW MOTION. Moving slowly is a main key in activating the proprioceptive system.

  3. We will be moving through some what first appear to be simple stretch positions. It doesn’t matter what position you are in or how far you go, it only matters that you move SLOWLY.

  4. We will use our attention as a tool to direct energy. Keep gently guiding your attention to sensations in your body, rather than emotions or thoughts.

Ok, let’s get started with some proprioceptive exercise!

Practiced over time, proprioceptive exercise leads to greater power and resilience. Posture naturally begins to improve along with more ease and range of movement. Emotionally, it helps prevent and resolve stress while empowering more functional choices. Mental clarity shines through. Spiritually, it brings one into a deeper alignment with their soul directive and a life path that is stimulating and fulfilling.

This work is an excellent entry to the light body activation process. It will begin to bring you into direct connection with the basic components of your energy system and initiate a reliable interface between your mind and the flow of your energy. You can use this type of exercise whenever you like, for however long you like. Do it for 60 seconds, 5 minutes or a full 20 minute session. Use it to bring your body, mind and spirit into more alignment in a safe, reliable and enjoyable way.

This type of exercise is a regular part of the shin tai bodywork classes for two main reasons:

  1. Release restrictions in the body and promote alignment for personal health.

  2. Expand the ability to perceive subtle energies while treating so that practitioners can facilitate sessions with more effectiveness.

Shiatsu/Shin Tai practitioners are encouraged to teach their regular clients some of the proprioceptive work in order to have them participate more actively in their treatment process.
