Hearing stories from practitioners around the world who share an interest in energy and bodywork can be so interesting and educational. It also helps us connect to one another!

Below is a story from Katriona Forrester. She’s an experienced shiatsu and macrobiotic teacher from England that first brought Saul to Switzerland to teach.

“I met shiatsu at the East West Centre in London, 1976 when I was 30. It was love at first touch, and giving treatments to friends and work colleagues became part of my life.

From 1986 onwards I studied deeply with Saul at the International Shiatsu School in Switzerland, which trained me for over 30 years of professional practice and teaching. His clear focus on key foundations of practice such as the use of hara, two-hand technique and waiting for the 'switch' from ortho- to parasympathetic nervous system, has served me well. Timeless.... priceless. Shiatsu as been a noble way to earn my living through a modality which refers to nature as a model of how energy works, and which promotes the body’s own self-healing processes. I consider these as years spent spreading goodness.

Now at age 77 my practice has gone happily amateur again; I treat family members and neighbors for no charge. They can (and do) contribute to my fundraising for disabled children in Nepal. It’s a beautiful way to engage in local community wellbeing. I enjoy the benefit of Makko-Ho and Do-In to keep my own vigour and flexibility for healthy old age, and am until now free from pharmaceuticals and surgical interventions. What a gift!"
