Everyone at some point wants to change their life. It may be that they want to improve results they’re getting, the quality of their environment, the nature of their relationships, or the state of their finances. The desired changes can be small or quite extensive. You yourself most likely can identify some things right now in your life that you want to alter or even transform.
Knowing that you want to make a change and thinking about that change can be helpful, but it often produces limited results. In order to truly change something, you need to take action steps that touch the essential level that spawns our life condition. These action steps, along with the components of positive thinking and affirmation, are key to birthing aspirations into physical form.
In science there’s a theory I’ve found to be perception altering in a way that can help us identify the core point that will generate a desired transformation: Critical Point Theory. This theory says that within every system there is a point or area, that if stimulated or adjusted, will create the greatest change with the least amount of effort. Although this is a mathematical theory, we can also apply it to our life. A person’s life as a whole is an interactive system. It’s composed of numerous sub-systems (i.e. relationships, home, finances, work, creative endeavors, etc.), all of which can be addressed at the critical point in order to enact change.
Using critical point theory in our life
The critical point can be very concrete or abstract depending on the system being addressed. In regards to body health, the critical point that would most positively impact the body and life system could be a type of exercise or a nutritional component. In terms of finances, it could be that creating a budget or redefining goals is the critical point that would transform the system. Meditation, increased emotional awareness or anger management could be critical points that would upgrade the quality of a relationship.
We can approach any problem or the desire to change by asking the simple question: ‘Where is the critical point? What system needs attention?’ Is it my physical body, is it a relationship(s), is it regarding knowledge/education or is it in the realm of productivity? These are just a few examples of a part of your life, a system in your life, that may be a critical point to create change. It could also be called the priority; in shin tai bodywork we often refer to finding the priority of treatment. After identifying what area of your life system is the critical point, you can look further to discover what might be the critical point to address within that system.
Below we’ll identify 3 ways to address the critical point of your overall life system, and then explore several ways you can use the leveraging principle behind critical point theory to generate the most change with the least amount of effort. But before we go further, it’s important to emphasize that’s it’s important to be patient and relax with the process of applying these ideas. It can take time for results to show up in your life sphere. When first doing these practices, you may not notice much shifting. As time goes by, the new reality that’s forming within and around you will start to register.
You’ll start to notice that components of your life vision are appearing. The more flexible you can be as this unfolds, the better. Sometimes things will come in packages that are wrapped differently than you expected. Enjoying the process of transformation is a sign in and of itself that change is taking place. Notice and acknowledge small degrees of change and success; over time they add up and become larger pieces of a multi-dimensional puzzle. Change and transformation comes in waves. There is an ebb and flow, so be patient when it seems slow and celebrate when opportunity arrives.
Identifying the critical point & taking efficient action are key to manifesting the changes you desire
Action Steps for Transformation
1. Replace unproductive & time wasting habits
Changing or letting go of habits that make us dull and dampen our creativity is an important step. Start by acknowledging the stagnating effect of activities such as excessive T.V. watching, social media addiction, impulse eating, smoking, or disempowering relationships. Identify what you’re doing on a regular basis that has a life suppressing effect. Listen to yourself as you reflect on what habits you have that leave you feeling drained or depressed.
Notice how these habits block your enthusiasm and replace your own imagination with prefabricated ideas and someone else’s vision. As you become more aware of what behaviors or habits are draining your energy, you can use this negative awareness in a very positive way: use it as a cue to replace the time spent on that habit with an activity that stimulates life force, creativity or insight. It could be something like exercise, drawing, reading a self development book, listening to music, or going outside. Only you can know if an activity or behavior dampens your life force or generates life force.
So once again: notice when you are being pulled into a life dulling habit and let that be a signal to engage in a more empowering activity. It helps to be specific and choose simple options. For example, maybe you like to play word games on your phone. It’s fun for awhile but then at a certain point you may be getting bored or impatient and not really enjoying the game anymore. Rather than ignoring these signals, use them as a cue to shift gears. One option would be to stop and do some stretches or jumping jacks for at least five minutes. Or simply go stand outside for a minute to reset; look at the sky and breathe. Drink a cup of tea. It doesn’t have to be a huge thing. Then notice the enjoyment and pleasure you feel when spending time in a way that contributes to what and how you want your life to be.
Move your body, move your life
2. Movement + vision = change
Life is motion. At the cellular level our journey begins with a sperm that moves in a wave motion and an oscillating egg that moves in a spiraling trajectory. These two entities synthesize at conception and their movements become the pulse of our life force. These motions continue to generate activity in all of the cells, organs and body systems. The motions also translate into e/motion, the electrical activity of our mind, and the vibrations of our energy body.
By working with motion/movement on purpose, you can help materialize the elements you need for change. The key is to use movement while focusing on your vision. There are so many things you can do to stimulate movement in your body: walking, jumping/trampoline, dancing, stretching, skipping, aerobics, hula hooping are just a few ideas. If you can’t do gross movements, you can always focus inward and bring attention to the movements in your body, like your breathing or heart beat.
Conscious walking in particular is a powerful agent of change that’s so simple to do. Wherever you are, you can find some space to walk. You can walk around your neighborhood, in a park, through some woods, or even around your house. While walking you can observe the environment, review priorities, and stimulate your creative process. This can be a multilevel meditation and initiator of deep calmness. Walking with a friend, associate or partner can generate productive conversations, action steps and solutions to life’s unfolding mystery.
3. Work with the alignment & symmetry of your energy substructure*
All that we attract and manifest in life is a reflection of our underlying energy field. This energy field is a viscous bioplasmic structure that adapts to our conditioning along with fluctuations in our physical, emotional and mental states. Areas and functions of the energy system can become restricted and distorted through stress events, chemical imbalance and emotional turmoil. These effects contribute directly to a lack of vitality and the inability to change habits and situations, continually drawing unwanted and unsatisfying results.
Chakras are a key configuration within the energy system that feed energy and information to all levels of the life process. When chakras are stagnate, weak or out of alignment, it’s difficult to make positive change. In fact, if they remain in an imbalanced state, struggles and negativity will persist and amplify over time. Therefore, balancing, strengthening and aligning the chakras is essential in any effort to transform life quality and manifest our vision more accurately at a core level.
Working with your chakras is a key factor in aligning your energy field*
Results of chakra alignment include:
Healing relationships - past, present and future
Stress and anxiety relief
Heightened focus & creativity
Better immune function
Clarity in perception of past and current events
Improved energy level and motivation
Besides creating powerful pathways for personal transformation. the process of chakra alignment will often reveal the critical point of systems both internal and external. When the chakra and energy system is restored to a fluid and aligned state, clearer information about present time and priorities is communicated by the primary intelligence of the body/mind.*

Healing naturally is a gradual process
Keep in mind that healing naturally is usually a gradual process rather than a quick fix. In fact, quick fixes rarely deliver more than a surface response that is more of a bandaid then a fix; they tend to lead to a weakening of the original condition, making it even harder to change. Healing naturally, changing things organically from the inside out, requires a physical, emotional, and mental revolution. It requires that we engage deeply and begin to take responsibility for our own healing process. The good news is, it can be enjoyable and is beneficial not just for you, but for your family and our wider earth community.
